Productivity Indicators Related To The Second Quarter Of 2009 Have Been Published

 

Productivity indicators related to the second quarter of 2009 have been published on 2nd of November (today) by National Productivity Centre of Turkey.

 

Production per person employed has decreased compared to the same quarter of the previous year and increased compared to the previous year

In the second quarter of 2009, index of production per person employed has decreased by 5.1% compared to the same quarter of the previous year in manufacturing industry while an increase of 19.2% has been seen compared to the previous quarter.

 

Production per hour worked has also decreased compared to the same quarter of the previous year and increased compared to the previous year

Index of production per hour worked, which has decreased by 3.1% in the second quarter of 2009 compared to the same quarter of previous year, has increased by 16.7% compared to the previous quarter.

 

Relative improvement in the manufacture of transport equipment

Maximum decrease in the index of production per person employed has been set at 25,7% in the manufacture of transport equipment compared to the second quarter of 2008. But both the production per person employed and the production per hour worked have increased in this subsection by 44.75% and 36% respectively, compared to the previous quarter.

 

Maximum increase has been seen in the manufacture of wood and wood products

Maximum increase in the index of production per person employed has been set at 28.8% in the manufacture of wood and wood products compared to the same quarter of the previous year. The increase in the production per hour worked in this subsection, which began after the fall seen in the last quarter of 2008, has also continued in the second quarter of 2009.

 

Increases are seen in the manufacture of textiles and textile products

In the manufacture of textiles and textile products, which is one of the most employment generating sectors, production per person employed and production per hour worked have increased in the second quarter of 2009 compared to both the previous quarter and the same quarter of the previous year. Increase rate of production per hour worked and production per person employed has been 6.08 % and 5.14 % respectively.

 

Increases are seen in the 6 of 14 subsections which compose manufacturing industry compared to the same quarter of previous year

Both production per hour worked and production per person employed have inreased in the second quarter of 2009 compared to the same quarter of the previous year in the six subsections of manufacturing industry which are listed below:

 

  • Manufacture of wood and wood products
  • Manufacture of leather and leather products
  • Manufacture of chemicals, chemical products and man-made fibres
  • Manufacture of textiles and textile products
  • Manufacture of pulp, paper and paper products; publishing and printing
  • Manufacturing n, e, c.

 

Hereby, whereas production per hour worked and production per person employed have increased in only two subsections of manufacturing industry in the first quarter of 2009, this number has risen to 6 in the second quarter of 2009.
