An Interview with Kerim
Ünal; MPM’s Secretary General & Member of The Board
We’ve had an interview with Mr.
Kerim ÜNAL and asked his thoughts and ideas about productivity
indicators issued since June and the 16th World Productivity
Congress.
“It is our duty
to issue quarterly indicators according to Law No 580. Our Centre
published productivity indicators in energy and manufacturing
sectors before, in a book format, but they were not up to date and
so they were not useful for the related sectors. But after TÜÝK
(Turkish Statistics Organizations) has started to issue up to date
data and RIP Programme (Official Statistical Program) has been
developed, a decision related to these indicators to be issued by
MPM was taken. Following this decision we started to issue these
indicators in June. We believe these indicators will contribute to
industry, manufacturing and all others in economy sector. People who
want to make investments in our country surely would like to seek
productivity indicators in the area they are interested in and these
indicators will guide the investors in the related sectors” said
Mr Ünal in reply to the question on productivity indicators.
He also added that
“although the high in increase in productivity indicators of the
previous years have turned negative, the 7.3 % productivity increase
in manufacturing sector in June this year was very positive compared
to previous month. The effect of economic crisis was not the same in
our country compared to the western countries. Solidarity in the
society which is a cultural feature of Turkish society have
contributed to tackle the economic crisis.
In addition to
these issues he has also spoken about the 16th World Productivity
Congress to be held in Antalya on 2-5 November 2010. The Congress
will be organized by Flap Tour Ltd.; the company which won the bid
and the venue of the Congress has been determined; Maritim Pine
Beach Resort in Belek Antalya. We also have formed some Committees
namely; Honorary Committee, Organization Committee, Steering and
Scientific Committees. We wish this Congress to be successful and
productive for all the participants and for all the related sectors.
